WHERE TO GO FOR
ONLINE VIRUS SCANS:
Whether your virus definitions are up
to date, your anti-virus program has "just expired," or you have no idea
what I'm talking about,... NOW HEAR THIS.... if your system
starts acting funny and you suspect virus activity, an online scan of
your system is the first thing to try. If you are still able to get
online, there a few anti-virus companies that offer a free online scan
of your system. The top five we recommend are:
1.
Trend Micro
2.
Panda
3.
McAfee
4.
Symantec
5.
RavAntivirus
Free Anti-Virus Programs:
AVG Anti-virus
- A good alternative to pay programs...not
quite as strong, but much better than nothing. Educate yourself!
Avast
- Another free antivirus program that is worth looking into.
Each name is a link to the free scan page of the
listed vendor. If you're on dial up it may take a while, but scanning
your system from an outside source is highly recommended. The
anti-virus program on your system may be compromised and an online scan
will tell the tale.
