What is Entertaiment?

The word entertainment is derived from Medieval Latin intertenere, meaning “to hold inside.” It can refer to an experience for one person, as with a private film viewing; to a banquet adapted for two people; to an entire evening for a crowd; or to an ongoing series of performances designed to entertain thousands. Many forms of entertainment are based on humor, but some have serious intentions as in the case of ceremonies, religious festivals or satire for example.
